The Glenshiel Housing Society

A not for profit Society dedicated to providing low to middle income seniors with an affordable, safe and independent place to call home.

The Glenshiel was built in 1908/1909 in the style of a turn of the century European hotel. It was initially operated by a series of private owners and was considered one of the best places to stay in Victoria. In 1997, The Glenshiel Housing Society was formed and is now responsible for the operation of The Glenshiel, in relationship with  BC Housing and the Royal BC Museum. We have a community consisting of over 70 residents and provide meals, activities, bed sitting rooms and light housekeeping for low to middle income independent seniors.

Our mission is to provide rental accommodation and hospitality services for seniors in a safe, secure, and affordable downtown environment that promotes independence.

About

"To travel is to live"

                   -H.C. Anderson

We are extremely pleased to announce the arrival of our very own (and first) Glenshiel vehicle. Made possible by the estate of former resident, the late Mr. Conrad Burns. With many thanks to Carson Automotive Group and Graphic FX, we will soon be on our way. Boasting fourteen passengers, our van will bring a wide array of new adventures and accessibility to our Glenshiel residents.

Located in beautiful downtown Victoria, BC

Just steps outside our front door are some of Victoria's most incredible spots. Wander through Beacon Hill Park, watch the sunset over the stunning Olympic Mountain range along Dallas Road, visit local shops in the Victoria Inner Harbor or take in the James Bay Market- The Glenshiel is conveniently located within a short walk to many of Victoria's amenities.

We acknowledge with respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory The Glenshiel Housing Society stands, and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
